About the Foundation

Built for the Ones Aging Out

Every year, thousands of young adults exit foster care with no family, no plan, and nowhere safe to land. Rock Landing Foundation exists to change that — one young life at a time.

Our Mission

Rock Landing Foundation provides transitional residential housing, workforce development, life-skills training, and therapeutic support for young adults ages 18–25 who have aged out of foster care.

We help them land on solid ground — and stay there.

The age the system stops — but the need doesn’t

When a young person ages out of foster care, the system that raised them simply lets go. No safety net. No family to come home to. No roadmap for adulthood. Within 12 months of emancipation, the outcomes are devastating: 1 in 5 will be homeless, fewer than half will have a job, and the cycle of trauma deepens.

Rock Landing Foundation is the bridge between aging out and standing strong. We provide what family would: a safe home, real-world skills, mentorship, healing, and a community that believes in them.

Our Approach

Three Pillars. One Promise.

Housing & Stability

A safe, supervised place to call home for 12–24 months. Not a shelter — a launchpad. Our 25-bed Phase 1 facility provides the foundation every young adult deserves: their own bed, their own door, their own dignity.

Skills & Workforce

Vocational training in culinary arts, construction, digital media, music recording, auto mechanics, agriculture, healthcare basics, and entrepreneurship. Real skills. Real certifications. Real jobs waiting at the other end.

Healing & Faith

Trauma-informed counseling, mental health support, and a faith-rooted community that loves them through the hardest seasons. Because real healing requires both clinical care and spiritual hope.

Meet the Founders

Built by Hands That Have Done the Work

Sherryl Cephas, Founder & CEO of Rock Landing Foundation

Sherryl Cephas

Founder · CEO · Board Chair

Sherryl built Rock Landing Foundation out of more than 16 years of frontline residential care leadership — much of it spent caring for aging veterans in the final season of their lives. A licensed Assisted Living Administrator and Medical Technician, she has watched, up close, what happens at both ends of the age spectrum when the system forgets the people inside it: the older adults who were promised dignity and the young adults who were promised a future.

Rock Landing is the answer to a question she could no longer ignore: where do these kids go when no one is coming for them?

Co-Founder · CMO · Vice Chair

Rolanda brings 20+ years of digital media production to the Foundation’s storytelling, brand, and outreach. She believes the youth Rock Landing serves deserve to see themselves represented with dignity — not pity — and that telling their stories well is itself an act of restoration.

She co-founded Rock Landing to make sure the world doesn’t just hear about these young adults, but truly sees them.
